Mulled Wine

 Stuff

  • 1 x 750 ml bottle of dry red wine
  • 6 x whole sticks of cinnamon
  • 8 – 10 whole cloves
  • 3 – 5 whole star anise
  • 3 – 5 whole green cardamom pods
  • ½ nutmeg nut, fine grated
  • 3 tblsn sugar
  • 1 cup brandy
  • 1 x lemon, sliced
  • 1 or 2 x orange, sliced

Method

  • put all ingredients except the lemon & orange slices into slow cooker or large pot – heat gently
  • Add the lemon & orange slices

Serve

  • Warm in warm glasses. Take care with the lumpy spices & herbs – strain out if you can
