Caramel Sauce

Stuff

  • 100g butter
  • ¾ cup dark brown sugar (the lighter the sugar – the lighter colour sauce)
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tspn vanilla
  • 3 finger pinch salt – more to taste

Method

  • Melt butter in sauce pan. Add brown sugar and whisk vigorously to fully combine
  • Add cream. Bring to the boil then reduce to a low simmer and cook for 5 minutes stirring frequently
  • Add vanilla and salt – stir to combine

Quantities

  • Approx 1 cup

Serve

  • Serve warm. Will go hard when it cools (heat to soften)
